Job summary

LG&E seeks an experienced Process Safety leader to ensure rigorous PS management across facilities. You will steer PHA/LOPA activities, guide incident investigations, and drive continuous improvement by embedding PS practices into project execution and change management.

Strong leadership and communication are essential. Applicants should have a decade of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP experience, plus at least five years in PHA.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP covered processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Experience with incident investigations and facilitating Root Cause Analyses.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and perseverance.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain alignment with corporate process safety goals and drive resolution of high-risk issues.
  • Promote a strong process safety culture through leadership and communication.
  • Track leading and lagging indicators and report key metrics and action plans.
  • Lead or participate in PHAs, LTAs, SIPS, and other process safety reviews.
  • Conduct or supervise incident investigations and RCA with focus on system improvements.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure PS deliverables are integrated into projects.

Job description

  • You will maintain alignment with corporate process safetygoals. Assists support personnel and field personnel with theinterpretation of and compliance with process safety requirements
  • Acutely aware of the highest risk issues andrelentlessly drives resolution with a strong sense of urgency andintegrity. Champions and promotes a strong process safety culture
  • You have excellent written and verbal communicationskills. Prepares and organizes written presentations, documentationand reports pertaining to process safety activities. Delivers keypresentations to senior management
  • Tracks and reports process safety leading and laggingindicators, key process safety metrics, action plans, and priorityrecommendations. Assists with identifying resources to support keyactivities
  • Identifies process safety improvement opportunitiesthrough interaction with all process safety stakeholders. Makesrecommendations and justifies new tools and work process improvements. Ensures that process safety-related StandardMaintenance Procedures (SMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),engineering standards and guidelines are developed, reviewed and updatedas needed
  • You ensure that process safety deliverables are anintegral part of project execution and management of change.Provides leadership to ensure that the quality and timing of projectdeliverables is acceptable. Ensures that appropriate management systemsand information management tools are used to effectively manage processsafety information
  • Ensures that adequate Hazard Identification and RiskAssessment procedures are in place and followed (includes PHA, LOPA,Facility Siting, Human Factors). Ensures that trained and qualifiedPHA facilitators and qualified team members participate in PHAs
  • You lead all key process safety incident investigationsand Root Cause Analyses (RCA). Promotes a culture of transparencyand seeks to understand underlying management system gaps and lack ofoperational discipline. Shares key learnings and follows up
  • You participate in key Pre-Startup Safety and OperationalReadiness Reviews (PSSRs)
  • Ensures that adequate Management of Change (MOC)procedures are in place and followed
  • You will manage the LG&E PSM/RMP Assessment program and leadsor participates in key process safety assessments
  • Ensures that process safety training is developed andmaintained. When appropriate, delivers process safety training.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the following:
  • Risk-Based Process Safety
  • PHA requirements and methodologies, Facility Siting andHuman Factors
  • Process Safety Information, how PSI is used inoperating facilities, and how it should be maintained
  • Relief systems and how their entire life cycle iscritical to process safety
  • Critical Safety Systems (CSS), Safety InstrumentedSystems (SIS), Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and Layers of ProtectionAnalysis (LOPA) and demonstrates an awareness of how these apply to LG&E'sbusiness
  • Management of Change (MOC) and its potential impact onprocess safety
  • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and how and when theyare conducted
  • Operating Procedures required in process operations
  • Mechanical Integrity, the basic elements of amechanical integrity program, and how this program supports process safety
  • You have good overall knowledge of OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation
  • Knowledge of various Recognized and Generally AcceptedGood Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) related to process safety
  • EPA's Risk Management Program (RMP)
  • How dispersion, fire and explosion modeling is used
  • Possesses the ability and willingness to:
  • You will analyze and understand process safety incidents withinindustry to identify opportunities for improvement within
  • Drives accountability at all organizational levels for process safety performance and risk reduction.
  • You will stay up to date with local, state and federalregulations that apply to facilities within
