Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States seeks an Associate Director of Equipment Engineering to lead and optimize packaging and device assembly systems. You will drive complex projects, set standards across sites, and partner with serialization and QA teams to ensure compliant, efficient operations.

The role requires deep knowledge of GMP, equipment validation, and cross-functional leadership, with a track record of delivering robust technical solutions for pharma packaging environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science/Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in pharma/biotech/medical device with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven success in developing and implementing equipment standards across multiple sites.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, device validation, change control and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex technical projects and equipment tech assessments in packaging/MDCP.
• Manage global and site-centric capital and equipment projects and launches.
• Provide SME support for packaging network troubleshooting and line performance.
• Apply AutoCAD/SolidWorks, validation, and Lean/Six Sigma to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with Serialization CoE to support serialization implementation.
