Loomis Chaffee School seeks an Associate Director of the Annual Fund who will be a core member of the Alumni/Development Office team, responsible for advancing volunteer engagement and fundraising, with a particular focus on engaging classes approaching or celebrating their five-year reunions. Working closely with the Director of the Annual Fund, the Associate Director leads personal solicitation efforts and develops and executes an annual strategic plan with both short- and long-term goals to achieve fundraising objectives.

  • Lead the fundraising and volunteer management program for classes celebrating their 5th through 70th reunions, personally managing signature reunion classes, including the 25th Reunion.
  • Collaborate with the Annual Fund team to develop and manage an inclusive and effective alumni volunteer program, comprising the recruitment, training, organizing, and motivating of volunteers.
  • Develop and execute strategies for soliciting support for the Annual Fund from all constituents.
  • Oversee the creation of a segmentation strategy to inform solicitation letters and other fundraising materials in collaboration with the Director of the Annual Fund.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects in both reunion and non-reunion years to solicit leadership gifts, with goals determined in consultation with development colleagues.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to inform strategy, maximize results, and prepare internal reports to track fundraising results and volunteer impact.
  • Support overall Annual Fund team efforts such as updating the Annual Fund website, crafting various letter and email solicitations, and strategizing on various fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday, Philanthropy Day in February, and more.
  • Strategize with the Annual Fund and Communications teams on plans for special fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for soliciting multi-year and recurring gifts in collaboration with the Director of the Annual Fund.
  • Conduct outreach to constituents whose employers offer matching gift programs, informing them of the opportunity and assisting with the necessary steps to complete the matching gift process.
  • Work with external vendors (GiveCampus, Double the Donation) who support the Annual Fund enterprise.
  • Work collaboratively with the Alumni/Development team to align Annual Fund strategies with comprehensive campaign priorities, helping to advance campaign participation and philanthropic support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of volunteers
  • Ability and willingness to solicit constituents in person, over the telephone and on screen, and via email
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data, including incorporating variable data into fundraising materials
  • High level of integrity, creativity, and motivation; strong work ethic; goal-oriented; attention to detail
  • Ability to interact effectively with Alumni/Development Office colleagues, alumni, volunteers, and other members of the school community
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and propriety in dealing with sensitive information
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Competence with Raiser’s Edge desirable.

Experience

  • At least three years of development experience, preferably at an independent school or in higher education.
  • Loomis Chaffee alumni strongly encouraged to apply.
