Associate Director of Development, Athletics

Join to apply for the Associate Director of Development, Athletics role at University of South Florida.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Deputy Athletic Director for Development and External Relations, this position builds relationships with the university's various constituents. The focus of the position will be on identifying major donors and cultivating prospects for major, corporate, leadership, foundation or planned gifts with expectations of meeting and/or exceeding both individual and departmental goals; assist in fostering positive, lasting relationships through personal contact and strategic touch points with donors that produce repeat and increased annual gifts. Forecasts development goals and informs management on the progress toward the goals. Analyzes statistics on giving trends and habits. This position will develop a comprehensive marketing, annual solicitation and communication plan that strategically engages current and prospective donors. The incumbent will work athletic events, hospitality, athletic competitions and community functions representing USF Athletics. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies potential major donors based on information from Donor Research, other development officers, and external contacts.
  • Cultivates prospects for major, corporate, leadership, foundation, or planned gifts. Has extensive contact with potential donors, corporate officials, foundation officers, and/or financial advisors to generate gift proposals.
  • Develop a major gift pipeline from annual giving supporters, and communicate with Bulls Club staff on regular updates regarding prospects.
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for the operations of Athletics Annual Giving. This will include the supervision of any annual giving staff to assist in achieving fundraising objectives of USF Athletics.
  • Work with Foundation and Athletics leadership, set goals and objectives for Athletics Annual Giving to obtain that fall within Athletics overall fundraising goals. Collaborate with other units within the Foundation to increase engagement and donor giving opportunities for Athletics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience. Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations or communications preferred. Professional experience working within a collegiate athletics program in fundraising/development is preferred.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

  • 4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
  • 6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
