Reporting to the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations, the Associate Director of Development will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects to secure significant philanthropic support for the Foundation. This role will contribute to increased operating income for the Foundation, advance key university priorities, and strengthen long-term relationships with alumni and other high-capacity donors.
East Stroudsburg University is a comprehensive university in northeastern Pennsylvania offering 49 undergraduate programs, 20 master's programs, and two doctoral programs. ESU is one of the ten universities and 14 campuses in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Founded in 1893, East Stroudsburg University is home to nearly 5,000 undergraduate students and more than 700 graduate students from 27 states and three countries. Students enjoy a 20-to-1 student to faculty ratio and have the opportunity to participate in 22 varsity sports. East Stroudsburg University provides challenging and contemporary undergraduate and graduate curricula that engage and equip students to critically appraise and apply knowledge in their lives and chosen fields of study. The East Stroudsburg University Foundation, a 501(c)(3) affiliate of East Stroudsburg University, was founded on December 1, 1986, and has dedicated nearly 40 years to securing and stewarding private gifts and grants that benefit East Stroudsburg University and its students. Every year, thousands of generous donors support the Foundation and the university in its mission of educating students, research, and public service. Through collaborative relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations, the ESU Foundation creates opportunities that will provide additional support to the students, programs, services, and educational community of East Stroudsburg University. The ESU Foundation prudently manages, invests, and stewards the assets entrusted to it by alumni, friends, and other supporters.
During the 2023–24 fiscal year, the ESU Foundation awarded a record 778 scholarships totaling $1,218,493, providing critical financial support to students pursuing higher education. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the university, 23 new scholarships were established, enhancing future support for students. In total, the Foundation raised $5,623,720 in gifts and pledges, reflecting the strong philanthropic spirit of the ESU community.
A bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience in development, sales, marketing, customer relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred for this position. The East Stroudsburg University Foundation will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $75,000 annually.
