Job summary

Miami University in Oxford, OH, seeks an Associate Director for the Wilks Institute of Leadership & Service. The role leads the LFSL team, supervises multiple directors and interns, and partners with students and campus colleagues to foster leadership and community engagement.

The Associate Director reports to the Director of Leadership and Fraternity and Sorority Life, and oversees development of leadership programs and services, including retreats, courses, and campus committees.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree prior to the start date.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related fields.
• Knowledge of collegiate leadership development theories.
• Knowledge of service and community engagement theories.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

Responsibilities

• Exercise collaborative leadership within the LFSL team and the Institute to ensure the development and coordination of leadership and community engagement activities and programs.
• Provide leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of several leadership retreats and workshops that serve a variety of student communities.
• Represent the LFSL team on campus committees aligned with civic and community engagement initiatives of the Institute.
• Develop and manage policy for website and social media accounts and communications and marketing efforts in collaboration with all areas of the LFSL Office.
• Teach EDL 290, Nature of Group Leadership or similar course on a yearly basis.
• Supervise three Assistant Directors, 1 Graduate Assistant or Intern, Graduate Practicum students and up to 10 undergraduate student employees.
• Actively participate in Student Life and University Committees
