Job summary

Frontage Laboratories, a leading CRO, seeks an experienced Associate Director of Inlife Operations at our Chicago site. You will lead the Inlife Operations team, optimizing schedules, training staff, and ensuring GLP-compliant study execution.

The role drives site growth by expanding technical capabilities, coordinating across departments, and delivering high-quality, timely nonclinical toxicology studies to clients. Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Biology, Toxicology or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years in nonclinical toxicology/preclinical research, GLP-regulated CRO experience advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years in supervisory/management roles overseeing inlife operations.
• Experience managing personnel, coordinating multiple studies, and optimizing resources.
• Strong knowledge of GLP requirements and animal welfare regulations.
• Experience with complex inlife procedures (dosing, clinical observations, sampling, termination).
• Proven ability to develop training programs, manage schedules, and implement process improvements.
• Ability to lead teams and resolve operational challenges across departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision of the Inlife Operations team across multiple studies.
• Ensure timely, high-quality execution of inlife activities in several concurrent non-clinical studies.
• Develop macro- and micro-schedules for inlife operations and resource planning.
• Coordinate scheduling with study teams and supporting staff.
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive training program for inlife personnel.
• Ensure staff are trained and qualified for assigned procedures and studies.
• Identify training gaps and implement competency improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and resource use.
• Develop standardized workflows and SOPs for inlife activities.
• Ensure compliance with study protocols, GLP requirements, and regulations.
• Promote a quality culture with timely documentation.
