$130,000.00/yr - $156,000.00/yr

Position Title:

Associate Director – Healthcare Strategy & Innovation

Location: On-Site/Client-Facing (Up to 75% Travel)

Security Clearance: Not Required

About the Role:

Join a forward-thinking consulting firm that supports transformation across industries, with a dedicated focus on healthcare. As an Associate Director within the Strategy & Innovation division, you will lead major initiatives aimed at reshaping how healthcare organizations operate, adapt, and grow. You will play a dual role—advising executive clients and developing future leaders in strategy consulting.

This position is ideal for experienced consultants who are passionate about solving complex problems, guiding healthcare payers and providers through strategic challenges, and delivering measurable business results.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Delivery & Engagement Oversight

  • Lead high-impact strategy projects for healthcare payer and provider organizations across multiple domains including operating model design, enterprise transformation, M&A, cost containment, and innovation
  • Oversee multiple teams to ensure client deliverables are timely, relevant, and aligned with strategic goals
  • Utilize proven frameworks and methodologies to structure decision-making, assess business dynamics, and recommend action plans

Client Relationship & Advisory

  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior healthcare executives
  • Identify new opportunities to add value and expand existing relationships
  • Represent the firm externally at events and contribute to its visibility in the market
  • Actively mentor mid-level and junior consultants using a hands-on, apprenticeship-style approach
  • Teach core consulting competencies, such as problem decomposition, structured thinking, stakeholder engagement, and business model development
  • Provide performance feedback, skill-building opportunities, and career coaching
  • Contribute to proposal development, market insights, and solution design
  • Help shape the direction of the strategy practice by supporting new offerings and internal capability development
  • Drive improvements in delivery methodologies and knowledge sharing

Operational Management

  • Track and manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation for multiple projects
  • Deliver financial reporting and updates to leadership while ensuring high levels of efficiency and project profitability

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to lead complex client engagements end-to-end
  • Fluency in applying consulting frameworks and structured communication techniques
  • Team building, coaching, and talent development
  • Financial stewardship and operational insight
  • High EQ and ability to navigate client relationships with finesse

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, economics, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years in strategic consulting, ideally with experience serving healthcare clients (payer or provider)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and executive presentation skills
  • Familiarity with analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx)
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively for client engagements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, MHA, or an advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Exposure to emerging healthcare technologies including AI, cloud services, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Active participation in professional healthcare or strategy organizations
