Job summary

William & Mary’s Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance seeks an Associate Director for Events & Operations to lead event and operational planning, budgeting, procurement, and outcome monitoring. This role supports a wide range of programs, maintaining strong communications with students, faculty, alumni, and partners.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher with 3–5 years in event management, and demonstrates proficiency in budgeting, procurement, and multiple software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, higher education, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in event management or a related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with budgeting, expenses, and procurement systems.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic design software, and database systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Capacity to maintain confidential or sensitive data.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Center events, club activities, conferences, and programs.
  • Maintain communication channels with students, faculty, alumni, and partners through the Center website, newsletters, and social media.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, tracking expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Provide operational support for Center programs and student organizations, including event logistics, vendor coordination, and procurement processes.
  • Track event and program impacts and outcomes, reporting regularly to the Faculty Executive Director.
  • Collaborate with Mason School and William & Mary offices, students, faculty, vendors, and alumni to support events and operations.
  • Assist the Associate Director for Academic Engagement and Student Development with program development and club oversight as directed.

Job Summary

The Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business promotes the study and practice of finance among students and the broader undergraduate community at William & Mary. The Associate Director for Events & Operations (Assoc Dir for Events) supports the Center’s mission by leading event and operational planning, budgeting, procurement, and outcome monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Center events, club activities, conferences, and programs.

  • Experience with enterprise student information systems, document sharing platforms, learning management systems, and procurement systems.
  • Track record working with and presenting to boards and councils.
  • High-level customer service skills for alumni and corporate partners.
Conditions of Employment

May require additional hours, including overnight and weekend work; travel is required. The role is student‑facing and may involve remote work at times of the year with limited academic demand. This position is not eligible for overtime and does not sponsor work visas.
