Job Description

The Field Planning & IC Associate Director is a strategic leadership role that applies consulting, analytic, and communication skills to partner with Sales and Marketing Director-level stakeholders in designing and implementing field analytics. The individual in this role provides thought leadership and strategic direction on innovative solutions for the AbbVie US Field Teams, integrating our understanding of opportunities among key external stakeholders.

This position is part of the Field Planning & Analytics Team, which drives field force effectiveness by optimizing sales force size and structure, ensuring our IC designs promote the right behaviors, and that call plans, field tools, and operations support our field teams' success. The role reports to the Director of the Field Planning & Analytics Team and will lead a team of managers and analysts to enable effective field execution.

This is a hybrid position requiring a commute to our Florham Park, NJ office at least 3 days per week.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Ownership

  • Co-create strategies and align objectives with the Field Analytics team.
  • Lead Franchise IC plan & SPIFF creation, execution, and communication.
  • Oversee deployment of field planning strategies including size & structure, targeting, and call plan KPIs.
  • Own and strategically partner on capabilities/functions to deliver innovative strategies and solutions related to Go-to-Market and Incentive Compensation.
  • Manage multiple complex projects, balancing short-term and long-term goals within budget and timelines, leveraging data, analytics, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to optimize deliverables.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and serve as a thought leader.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share best practices.
  • Partner regularly with senior stakeholders to address strategic issues, review research, and negotiate priorities. Provide benchmarking reports and competitive intelligence across disease states.
  • Manage vendor relationships for Oncology Franchise A & E effectively.

Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of three managers and analysts.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of project execution and clear communication.
  • Act as a coach, supporting team development and removing barriers to achievement.
  • Stay informed about therapeutic innovations and capabilities.
  • Manage budgets and vendor programs.
  • Encourage continuous innovation and engagement with cross-functional teams to identify innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate with other ADs to ensure capabilities and projects are aligned across teams and verticals.
  • Ensure team adoption of new methodologies and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • BA, BS degree required.
  • At least 8 years of analytical or commercial operations experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
  • Experience collaborating with leadership to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Proficiency in strategic thinking, problem-solving, innovation, cross-functional collaboration, analytics, leadership, results-driven mindset, and effective communication.
  • Knowledge of programs like Excel, SPSS Modeler, PowerPoint, Power BI, and analytical techniques including regression, clustering, machine learning, and advanced statistical skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills to anticipate and address business needs.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt strategies, and foster innovation.
  • Proven problem-solving ability across departments and team leadership skills.
