Job summary

Western Connecticut State University seeks an Associate Director of Facilities Planning, Architecture & Design to lead planning, programming, and design for campus capital projects. You will oversee CAD/BIM workflows, coordinate with departments, and supervise staff and contractors to ensure projects meet campus goals and codes.

The role requires licensure in CT, a relevant degree, and 5+ years of experience in facilities design and construction.

Qualifications

• Licensed architect in the State of Connecticut.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction technology; Master’s degree preferred.
• Five (5) years of experience in the design and construction industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and AutoCAD; Revit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works on all phases of facilities planning to meet facility needs, including bidding and construction.
• Recommends design alternatives to improve space utilization while following codes.
• Provides professional assistance to departments in design and analysis of equipment, furnishings, and space needs.
• Prepares cost estimates and monitors project costs.
• Tracks progress of in-house capital projects from initiation to expenditure.
• Oversees outside contractors on minor capital construction and renovation projects; assists with preliminary designs.
