Job summary

Ginkgo Bioworks is seeking an Associate Director, EH&S to lead development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety programs across all sites. The role requires hands-on leadership to build scalable programs with lean resources while maintaining site-level operational excellence.

Experience with chemical hygiene and regulated environments such as CLIA or FDA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Science, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of EH&S management experience in lab or manufacturing settings.
• Experience implementing EH&S programs and engaging employees.

Responsibilities

• Manage EH&S permits (Local, State, Federal) including CLIA standards.
• Implement and improve the EH&S Management System (CAPA, incident reporting).
• Lead authoring and maintenance of EH&S programs across the organization.
• Support site leaders to progress EH&S programs with measurable compliance metrics.
• Develop and improve training materials for in-person and online sessions.
