Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks an Associate Director to build and maintain the data foundation powering data-driven modeling in sterile drug product development.

You will gather SPD data, design scalable pipelines, and enable machine learning and statistical modeling across biologics and vaccines. The role requires deep experience in data engineering within pharmaceutical development, strong programming skills in Python and/or R, and the ability to work across SPD scientists, engineers, and digital teams in

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in sterile drug product development or related pharmaceutical data systems.
• Experience building and deploying data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data integration in scientific contexts.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, with familiarity with Jupyter notebooks and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Build data pipelines and dashboards that support modeling workflows for SPD data.
• Collaborate with SPD experimentalists, process engineers, and analytics to gather data requirements.
• Define data standards, metadata schemas, and data ingestion pipelines across labs and manufacturing.
• Automate data ingestion from laboratory instruments, ELNs, PAT systems, and manufacturing systems.
