Job summary

Vertex is seeking an Associate Director of Strategic Sourcing for CGT Raw Materials at its Boston, MA HQ. You will lead global sourcing strategies, manage strategic suppliers, and collaborate across Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Legal to ensure uninterrupted supply and value for patients.

The role emphasizes disruptive sourcing, AI-enabled tools, and continuous improvement with a hybrid work pattern (3 days in office, 2 remote) and travel to facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or related CGT/biopharma areas.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, supply chain, business or related field; advanced degree or certifications a plus.
• Proven track record of negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to define and drive CGT raw material category strategies for development, clinical, and commercial manufacturing.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, run RFx processes, and negotiate favorable contracts while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Manage key strategic suppliers, perform market analysis, and lead continuous improvement in sourcing processes.
