Position Summary

Working as a member of the Major Gifts and Individual Giving team, the Associate Director will be responsible for driving unrestricted revenue and executing on a comprehensive annual giving program. He/She will contribute to the team’s fundraising goals by managing the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of a robust and multi‑pronged annual giving program. This role will oversee associate/assistant level annual giving staff and report to the Director, Annual & Community Giving.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
  • Execute a comprehensive annual giving program, raising a minimum of $1.5M annually for the BMC Fund, BMC’s unrestricted fund, from individuals, including grateful patients, employees, friends and other constituents who make gifts up to $25k.
  • Oversee project management of direct mail appeals, impact reports and other annual fundraising materials, from initial concept development through final execution; including, but not limited to, developing project plans and timelines, drafting and editing content, and maintaining relationships with print, design and other vendors. Partner closely with the Development Communications team on these efforts.
  • Maintain and model strong portfolio management of annual giving donors; demonstrate competencies in using technologies effectively to engage donors through DXO strategy.
  • Manage and mentor the annual giving team; provide coaching to annual giving staff on how to solicit, renew, and increase flexible giving from emerging donors.
  • Manage all aspects of BMC’s giving society, the Exceptional Neighbor Circle ($1k-$25k annual giving donors), with an emphasis on acquiring new ENC donors.
  • In partnership with MG, identify and transition donors to move from an annual giving portfolio into a major gift/planned giving portfolio to further populate those revenue pipelines.
  • With the Development Operations Team, effectively track data and performance metrics for all annual giving programs and appeals. Analyze data to inform short- and long‑term strategy, including but not limited to future revenue goals for annual giving and segmentation of appeals to increase response rates, upgrade giving, and retain donors.
  • Implement and grow an employee giving campaign to encourage support among staff and clinical leaders; educate incoming employees about how to engage with development.
  • Manage and increase BMC’s Grateful Patient annual fundraising program, including targeted outreach, appeals, and additional stewardship; partner with clinical leads as appropriate.
  • Participate in regular goal development and strategy meetings with other team members to review donor activity, track fundraising metrics and assess progress toward annual goals, with the aim of driving YOY growth.
  • Partner with the events and donor engagement teams, conduct annual giving events throughout the year focusing on donor acquisition and stewardship.
  • Interface with Development Operations to develop gift processing and data management best practices to fulfill needs of the MG/IG team.
  • Monitor trends in the field, pilot/implement new forms of outreach to increase revenue…Work closely with operations to develop of new channels of outreach (texting, retargeting, etc.).
  • Other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required.

Compensation Range

$97,500.00- $141,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market‑competitiveness.
