Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an Associate Director of Learning & Development to shape corporate strategy and execute regional plans across geographies. The role partners with HR and division leaders to deliver learning solutions, evaluate impact, and drive leadership development initiatives.

The candidate will lead L&D efforts, contribute to global strategies, and oversee talent management programs while managing cross-functional collaborations and large-scale projects in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred (Organization Development or Instructional Design preferred).
• 10–15 years in Human Resources Management with emphasis in Talent Management and process development required.
• Area or regional experience preferred; global mindset required.
• Consulting experience with proven results in performance management, talent management, executive and leadership development, change management, etc. required.
• Leadership development and talent management experience required.
• Organization development, change management, or performance improvement experience required.
• Effective presentation and communication skills and executive presence required.
• Facilitation skills including managing group dynamics and questioning techniques preferred.
• Experience managing complex and large scale projects required; experience leading and managing others; financial and vendor management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a partner with BHR and division leader(s) to provide L&D support to achieve business objectives.
• Analyzes division business needs; identifies gaps between ideal and actual performance; aligns solutions with business goals.
• Leads the Learning & Development team and contributes to the leadership of the corporate function.
• Develops the L&D strategy and ensures alignment through annual L&D plans.
• Contributes thought leadership to strategic partnerships in HR as it relates to L&D focus areas.
• Drives and executes division organizational development needs; designs talent and organization plans.
• Maintains customer relationships with key business leaders; measures and reports impact.
• Provides proficient consultation on talent management phases including succession and leadership transitions.
• Maintains core L&D operations and processes; leads and manages L&D staff.
