Job summary

Alta Resource Technologies combines synthetic biology and advanced materials to optimize adsorbent chemistries for industrial separations in Boulder, CO. The Associate Director will lead resin activation, surface functionalization, and immobilization processes, translating lab-scale innovations into robust, scalable manufacturing.

The role requires deep polymer chemistry expertise, cross-functional leadership, and a proven track record in moving technologies from research through process

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with extensive industrial R&D experience.
• Hands-on expertise in resin activation and surface functionalization.
• Experience with covalent coupling chemistries (amine-, thiol-, epoxy-, aldehyde-, carbodiimide-, click-, maleimide-based).
• Strong skills in surface characterization and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of adsorbent materials and chemistries.
• Scale covalent immobilization strategies for proteins onto solid supports.
• Evaluate and optimize support materials and characterize adsorbent performance.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes for adsorbent production.
• Transfer lab methods to demo and commercial scale with process engineering.
• Define critical process parameters and in-process controls for manufacturing.
• Author technical reports, SOPs, and tech transfer docs.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to technical strategy.
