Alta Resource Technologies seeks an experienced Associate Director to lead adsorbent chemistry development, activation, and scale‑up for advanced separation technologies in Boulder, CO. Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of industrial experience; or MS with 12+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in resin activation and functionalization chemistries.
• Experience developing covalent coupling chemistries (amine-, thiol-, epoxy-, aldehyde-, carbodiimide-, click-, maleimide-based).
• Strong knowledge of surface characterization and analytical techniques (spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy).
• Experience leading cross-functional technical programs and mentoring scientists.
• Proven track record of advancing technologies from research through process development.
• U.S. citizenship

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of adsorbent materials (activation, surface modification, functionalization).
• Develop and scale covalent immobilization strategies for proteins and other molecules onto solid supports.
• Evaluate and optimize a range of support materials and recovery methods.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize adsorbent performance.
• Establish structure–property relationships to guide design and optimization.
• Develop robust, scalable manufacturing processes for adsorbent production.
• Partner with process engineering to transfer lab methods into demo and commercial-scale operations.
• Define critical process parameters, quality attributes, and in-process controls for manufacturing.
• Author and review technical reports, SOPs, batch records, specs, and tech transfer docs.
• Collaborate with analytical teams to develop and validate methods.
• Support IP generation, invention disclosures, patent apps, and publications.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to tech strategy and project prioritization.
• Serve as technical leader within multidisciplinary teams and report progress to leadership.
