Job summary

College of Arts and Sciences University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks an Associate Director of Academic Advising Initiatives to oversee advising, onboarding, and student success initiatives.

This role includes supervising staff, training advisors, coordinating new student enrollment, and collaborating across departments to improve retention and graduation outcomes. The position is based in Lincoln, NE, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in higher education with evidence of 1:1 student interaction in advising or related areas.
• Ability to learn and explain extensive university/college requirements, federal law, policies and procedures.
• Experience using a variety of technology platforms.
• Must have strong leadership skills and supervisory experience.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment essential.
• Ability to lead projects, build relationships and collaborate across functional units.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of academic advising, new student onboarding, and student success initiatives.
• Coordinate college participation in new student enrollment and orientation programs.
• Supervise, develop, and assess professional advising staff; lead advisor training.
• Support college-wide retention, persistence, and graduation initiatives; contribute to assessment and data analysis.
• Serve on college and university committees and advance professional development.
