University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an Associate Director of Academic Advising in the Department of Architecture. This role oversees the student experience for M.Arch students and coordinates advising, admissions, and departmental awards.

Reports to the Director of Administration and collaborates with faculty. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and several years in academic advising or student services, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates the student experience for Master of Architecture students in the Department of Architecture, serving as a primary point of contact and departmental resource for students throughout their academic program.
  • Provides guidance and support to students experiencing academic challenges, identifies concerns that may affect academic progress, and works with the School’s Director of Student Services to determine appropriate academic support.
  • Leads academic advising and registration, including developing academic schedules, prerequisites, waivers, class registration, and graduation audits.
  • Coordinates the Department’s admissions processes, managing deadline-driven workflows, communicating with prospective students, and supporting matriculation.
  • Coordinates the department’s annual student awards process, including nominations and the awards evaluation event.
  • Works with Architecture Graduate Group Chair to provide support for the Architecture PhD Program, tracking progress and connecting students to resources.
  • Administers and proctors examinations within the PhD process and updates the Graduate Group Handbook.
