Job summary

Jannine Abadi Associates in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant/Associate Menswear Designer to support the Senior Designer in building a balanced, desirable collection for each season. This is a full-time position with no freelancers.

The candidate will assist with silhouette development, fabric sourcing, trims, tech packs, fittings, and room setup for meetings, coordinating with overseas teams, and keeping design files organized to ensure smooth seasonal progress.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of menswear experience.
• Wovens tops experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design/Art.
• Experience with tech packs and garment construction methods and fittings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop silhouette ideas, color palettes, concept boards, and trims.
• Assist in fabric sourcing for each season.
• Develop trims for the menswear design team.
• Create initial technical packs and specs.
• Assist in fittings from proto to bulk stage developments.
• Provide reliable support to Senior Designer.
• Help set up design room for management meetings each season.
• Coordinate effective email communication with team overseas.
• Maintain filing and organization on a day-to-day basis.

This person will assist the Senior Designer to design a balanced and desirable collection with season which is appropriate to the demands of the growth of the business.

Responsibilities

• Developing new ideas for silhouette, color, concept boards, and trims
• Assisting in sourcing fabric for each season
• Developing new trims used by young mens design team
• Specking and creating initial technical packages
• Assisting in fittings of garments and corrections for proto, show, and bulk stage developments
• Provide reliable and responsible support to Senior Designer
• Helping in setting up design room for management meetings each season
• Effective e-mail communication between team overseas
• Day to day up keep of filing and organization

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3-4 years of related professional experience working within Menswear.
• Wovens tops experience a must!
• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design/Art
• Previous expertise of woven designs, tech pack development and garment construction methods as well as fitting experience
