Job summary

White House Black Market seeks an experienced Apparel Designer to drive product from concept to market for assigned categories. You will support the design team in creating seasonal collections, develop new silhouettes, prepare tech packs, and ensure margins and calendars are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design is required.
• 3+ years of experience in the apparel design industry, preferably contemporary market.
• Outstanding sketching and presentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external partners.
• Solid understanding of details and trim; strong print/pattern sense.
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel and Word; CAD/InDesign preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports design team in creating the product collections at the beginning of each season.
• Creates new silhouettes for categories within the collections.
• Prepares development creative packages under direction of the senior designer and/or designer.
• Manages multiple seasons at different development stages, adhering to the calendar.
• Creates assortment relevant to brand positioning.
• Prepares design tech packs.
• Translates design concepts into customer-ready products.
• Prepares for seasonal product review meetings.
• Shops monthly to compile market research and stay current with trends.
• May attend development fit sessions and create artwork for embellishments or mockups.
• Other duties as assigned.
