Job summary

White House Black Market is seeking a Technical Designer to ensure brand quality fit, appearance, and construction for designated product areas in Fort Myers. You will lead fit sessions, develop specs and tech packs, and partner with designers, merchants, and vendors to uphold standards.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in apparel, patternmaking knowledge, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; in Fashion Design a plus
7+ years’ experience in the apparel industry including patternmaking with knowledge of total production timeline
Detail oriented with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Understanding of garment manufacturing process required
Good understanding of fit, balance, pattern, garment construction, fabrics and fabric performance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Effective team-building skills
Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Adobe Creative Suite proficiency
FLEX PLM or comparable software knowledge
Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for apparel business; team player
Knowledge of pattern software (2D/3D, Optitex, CLO, Brozzwear)

Responsibilities

Leads weekly fit sessions and collaborates with designers and merchants to translate fit and aesthetic details
Provides technical direction on specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit and quality
Maintains fit consistency and ensures standard grade rules
Executes tech packs from Development to PP for assigned departments
Ensures Product Lifecycle Calendar dates are met for Development and Garment Fit Approvals
Anticipates and resolves problems with the fit process; partners with vendors
Attends cross-functional meetings to address vendor, quality, and timeline concerns
Vets processes with Technical Design leaders to evolve procedures
May train new associates in technical design responsibilities and processes
May coach team by evaluating and improving processes
Partners with vendors to maintain standards and timelines
Executes tech packs for additional product classifications
