Job summary

George Mason University College of Science invites applications for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in Fairfax, VA. The role provides leadership over recruitment, appointment, promotion and tenure, mentoring, and faculty development within the COS.

The Associate Dean will coordinate P&T processes, oversee merit reviews, manage budgets related to faculty initiatives, and collaborate with central Faculty Affairs and COS leadership to advance faculty success across the college.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in a related field.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly/research achievement, teaching, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure.
• Responsible academic administrative experience typically obtained in two or more years.
• Experience in mentoring faculty and supervising faculty development programs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of faculty lifecycle processes such as renewal, reappointment, promotion, and tenure.

Responsibilities

• Lead faculty affairs including recruitment, appointment, promotion, and tenure processes.
• Develop mentoring programs and faculty development activities.
• Oversee P&T dossiers and annual merit review cycles.
• Manage budgets and provide guidance on faculty relations.
• Collaborate with COS dean’s leadership team and central offices to advance faculty success.
