Job summary

George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, seeks an Assistant Dean of Graduate Academic Affairs to lead CHSS graduate policies and programs. The role oversees staff, coordinates with the Graduate Division, and serves as a key liaison on university committees.

The position emphasizes data-informed actions and collaboration with multiple offices to support graduate education and student success. The successful candidate will guide strategic policy implementation, oversee graduate admissions

Qualifications

Master’s degree in related field.
Experience directing and composing reports supportive of program growth.
Experience developing plans and materials to support recruitment efforts.
Experience mentoring others to work as a team and to utilize a growth mindset.
Experience in making independent decisions related to graduate admission policy and process.
Experience in providing independent advice to constituents regarding policies, regulations, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Program Management: advise program directors and students on policies and procedures.
Academic Planning: conduct college-level reviews and implement actions via advising systems.
Communication: inform university units about degree requirements and policy updates.
Management and Leadership: supervise Graduate Success Fellows and coordinate with CHSS offices.
Academic Standards: ensure policy accuracy and manage communications with stakeholders.
Program Management Support: advise on annual assessments and ensure timely communications.
