Job summary

Northeastern University’s Defense Industrial Base Institute in Boston seeks a Jr Data Scientist to advance ML/AI projects across government and industry partners. You will help design, validate, and maintain data pipelines and analytical components that inform leadership and sponsor decisions.

As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will build practical models and dashboards, communicate tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to government-defense R&D programs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, CS, Applied Math, or related field.
• 2–4 years in software/data science with ML/AI experience.
• Experience with data pipelines, model development, and visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Support Navigator-based defense projects with modeling, simulation, and experimentation.
• Test and validate ML tools; scale projects and improve efficiency.
• Provide SME input to sponsors and leadership; assist with scoping proposals.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams for data-driven decisions.
