Job summary

Northeastern University in Boston seeks an Associate AI Engineer to design, build, and implement AI systems and data pipelines across multiple departments. You will transform manual processes into AI-driven solutions, focusing on robust data pipelines, efficient ML models, and integrating AI into existing enterprise infrastructure.

The role requires strong AI/ML development skills (Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch), NLP expertise, data engineering experience, and knowledge of cloud services and MLOps

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience with AI or ML in enterprise applications, preferably in higher education.
• Strong understanding of LLM capabilities, prompt design, and enterprise prompts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement AI solutions to automate university operations and improve service quality.
• Build end-to-end data pipelines with ETL, data quality checks, and governance.
• Develop ML models, fine-tune LLMs, and establish evaluation protocols.
• Integrate AI systems with university infrastructure, identity management, and ticketing/knowledge systems.
• Monitor performance, detect drift, and optimize models and pipelines for efficiency.
