As an Associate Data Engineer in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities positively.

***This is a hybrid role based in Lake County, IL***

Purpose

The Associate Data Engineer will contribute to the architecture, design, and development of purpose-built Data & Analytics solutions in a timely manner, under the guidance of a senior leader. They should possess a general understanding of software development and technology infrastructure related to data and analytics, including databases, data integration, data warehousing, data analysis, visualization tools, and MLOps.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks competently and independently, generating reliable and consistent results.
• Learn and understand various data engineering and analytics activities, including data warehousing, master data management, data cataloging, system integration, data streaming, data visualization, data analysis, and data operations.
• Understand pharmaceutical R&D and Life Science datasets.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation related to work products.
• Contribute to the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of large-scale data and analytics platforms, system integrations, data pipelines, data models, and API integrations.
• Understand and adhere to corporate standards, including policies on conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in data analysis programming languages such as SQL, Python, Apache Spark, SAS, or R.
• Experience with MPP engines, graph databases, and search technologies is preferred.
