Job summary

Purdue University is seeking an Associate Custodian or Custodian to maintain a clean and safe campus environment. Responsibilities include custodial duties across classrooms, offices, and labs, with potential vehicle operation and building access.

• Work outdoors 10% of the time in extreme temperatures
• Two-tier qualification: S2 requires six months custodial experience and 24 months total work experience

Job description

Assist in maintaining, or may maintain, a clean, safe, and healthy environment in University facilities. Provide custodial services for university classrooms, offices, research labs, and public spaces. In addition, one or more of the following may be an essential function of this position: (a) drive a university owned vehicle during work shift, (b) work a non-traditional schedule, see posted shift schedule, (c) learn and perform specialized cleaning procedures. May provide building access by locking and unlocking areas as scheduled by the department. May develop relationships with building occupants and respond to requests.

This position represents a dual-level posting and will be filled as an Associate Custodian or Custodian. The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:00am - 1:30pm

Starting Pay: $15.00

• Must be able to work well with others and work in a team environment
• Learn and follow safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment as required
• Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
• Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 90 degrees

Education and Experience (S2)

• Six months of custodial experience
• 24 months of total work experience
