Role & Responsibilities

WPP Unite is seeking a highly dynamic and inspiring Associate Creative Director with a strong Copywriting background to lead, mentor, and elevate our creative team. This pivotal role involves driving the conceptualization and verbal directionof innovative commerce marketing campaigns, ensuring creative excellence that drives sales and fosters deep brand engagement. You will collaborate closely with clients, translating their vision into compelling strategic narratives and persuasive messaging, and ensuring all creative output aligns seamlessly with brand identity and business objectives.

In addition to a killer attitude and infectious energy, you will bring:

  • Lead the creation of impactful shopper marketing programs, from initial concept development to final messaging and implementation across a range of tactics.
  • Drive innovative and bold creative ideation, clearly articulate big ideas in client-facing pitch decks, and finesse revisions under tight deadlines with an eye for detail.
  • Oversee and guide the development of high-impact campaigns and content, ensuring alignment with client brand voice, tone, and strategic goals across a range of tactics, digital platforms, and shopper experiences both in and out of the store.
  • Provide a strong, expert POV on messaging hierarchy, brand voice, storytelling, and persuasive language, setting the creative copy standard for the team.
  • Guide the development of exploratory concept boards, leveraging diverse insights and references to inspire fresh ideas on proactive pitches.
  • Champion a social-first approach to creative, staying ahead of cultural trends and platform innovations to ensure campaigns resonate with modern audiences.
  • Leverage production experience (e.g., photo/video shoots, experiential activations, post-production) ensuring seamless and high-quality execution of creative concepts.
  • Serve as a visionary mentor, creative powerhouse, and effective project manager, inspiring and guiding creative team members through structured guidance.
  • Proactively share industry knowledge through ongoing training and development.

Strategic & Client Collaboration:

  • Collaborate seamlessly with strategy and client service teams to identify key insights that drive innovative creative programming.
  • Develop comprehensive creative thought starters for ideation sessions and lead dynamic creative brainstorms for client opportunities.
  • Proactively drive the development of creative briefs that are actionable, unique, and rooted in clear ideas backed by proven insights.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of clients' businesses and target audiences.
  • Accurately deliver concepts and copy against project briefs with minimal oversight, showcasing exceptional attention to detail.
  • Develop beautifully crafted presentation decks, combining compelling storytelling with polished design to effectively sell creative concepts.
  • Partner with the client service team to identify and pursue growth opportunities with current and prospective clients.

  • Work quickly, independently, and with a proactive "can-do" attitude, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Receive and implement feedback in a positive problem-solving manner from multiple stakeholders including creative directors, account and strategy leads, and clients.
  • Demonstrate strategic prioritization that effectively adheres to tight timelines on multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Be an effective, solutions-oriented leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in an agency and/or design environment, with a strong preference for background in brand, trade, or shopper marketing.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Portfolio: A compelling online portfolio showcasing professional work that demonstrates proven experience in creating unmissable, strategically sound creative work.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of CPG shopper marketing and an elevated understanding of the retail trade environment, including omnichannel and physical/digital retail integrations.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated team leadership experience preferred, with a proven ability to mentor and inspire creative talent.
  • Strategic Acumen: Creative strategy experience preferred.
  • Presentation Skills: Proven experience presenting to decision-makers and successfully selling complex creative concepts.
  • Problem-Solving: Solutions-oriented mindset, with an ability to lead and deliver results effectively through ambiguity.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in the office 3 days a week.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $155,000*

*exact compensation will be determined based on individual experience
