Job summary

Centerstone in Hannibal, MO is seeking an Associate Counselor to support individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders under supervision. The role focuses on screening, developing treatment plans, and facilitating counseling sessions to help clients progress toward goals.

Ideal candidates have foundational counseling experience, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or high school diploma/equivalent required.
• Must meet trainee registration and supervision requirements per Missouri Credentialing Board or relevant professional board.
• Supervision by a Qualified Addiction Professional who has completed MCB Clinical Supervision Training.
• Basic knowledge of case management and rehabilitation methods.
• Understanding of therapeutic theories and techniques.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to conduct individual and group interventions.
• Familiarity with behavioral science principles and counseling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Participate in screening/assessment processes under supervision.
• Develop individualized treatment plans.
• Complete timely correspondence and documentation.
• Attend clinical staffing/team meetings.
• Meet weekly Collaborative Service Goal (CSG) expectations.
• Ensure documentation aligns with treatment plans and standards.
• Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions.
• Assist clients through transitions and discharge processes.
• Maintain professional relationships and adhere to ethical standards.
• Handle crisis situations appropriately.
• Complete annual training per ASAM standards.
