Job summary

White Space Group, a global brand management company, seeks an Associate Legal Counsel with 3–5 years of commercial and intellectual property experience to join our Legal & Business Affairs team in New York, NY.

The role supports global licensing transactions, IP management, and complex commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions, with exposure to M&A, e-commerce, and corporate governance.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility to become admitted in NY.
• 3–5 years of legal experience in law firm or in-house setting.
• Experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements.
• Working knowledge of trademark law and IP licensing.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills translating legal issues to business terms.

Responsibilities

• Manage portions of the global trademark portfolio, incl. filings, renewals, oppositions, and enforcement.
• Coordinate with outside IP counsel worldwide.
• Review trademark clearance searches and provide risk assessments.
• Assist with copyright, domain name, customs, and anti-counterfeiting matters.
• Maintain IP databases and monitor filing deadlines.
• Support IP due diligence for acquisitions and strategic transactions.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Provide legal guidance throughout contract lifecycles from negotiation to execution and compliance.
• Advise internal teams on contractual rights and obligations.
