Job summary

The Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct is an independent State agency dedicated to investigating prosecutorial conduct in New York State, serving to strengthen oversight of New York’s prosecutors and to hold them to the highest ethical standards in the exercise of their duties.

The Associate Counsel will conduct confidential investigations regarding allegations of prosecutorial misconduct, report to the Deputy Director of Investigations, and lead teams in investigations, reporting, and hearings

Qualifications

J.D. with at least 6 years of experience as an attorney admitted to practice in New York.
Excellent legal research and writing skills.
Excellent analytical skills.
Litigation experience (depositions, trials, and/or appellate).
Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality with sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

Evaluate allegations of prosecutorial misconduct submitted to CPC.
Engage in preliminary fact-finding and draft memoranda to aid in investigations opening decisions.
Manage investigators, paralegals, and staff to execute investigations.
Collaborate with CPC attorneys to investigate complaints.
Draft reports summarizing findings and provide recommendations on formal complaints.
Assist in preparing for hearings and presenting evidence.
Conduct training sessions on legal matters and investigative techniques.
