Job summary

Liquid AI, a foundation model company, seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel to lead product counseling and AI regulatory work in Massachusetts. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and partner with product, research, and engineering teams shaping how Liquid’s models are developed and deployed.

You will own legal support for development, release, and deployment, advise on AI regulation, privacy, data governance, IP, model safety, and participate in compliance planning for the EU

Qualifications

• Must have 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house advising for technology products.
• Strong background in AI regulation, privacy, data governance, or IP.
• Ability to understand products and give practical, risk-based legal guidance.
• Ability to work independently and drive issues to resolution.
• Comfort making decisions where the law is unsettled or unclear.
• Clear, concise writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Own legal support for development, release, and deployment of Liquid’s models and products.
• Advise product, research, and engineering on AI regulation, privacy, data use, IP, model safety, and product claims.
• Lead Liquid’s response to the EU AI Act and other emerging AI laws, including controls, documentation, and product decisions for compliance.
• Advise on training/evaluation data, synthetic data, model outputs, open-source/open-weight releases, fine-tuning, and customer deployments.
• Support the commercial team on product and regulatory issues in strategic customer and partnership agreements.
