Job summary

Liquid AI in San Francisco seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel to lead product counseling and AI regulatory work, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. You will partner with product, research, and engineering teams as they build and deploy cutting-edge models and products.

You will translate evolving laws into practical steps for the company, help shape compliant releases, data usage, and open-source decisions, and support commercial deals with regulatory insight.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house work with technology teams.
• Strong background in AI regulation, privacy, data governance, IP, or related tech issues.
• Ability to understand Liquid’s products and give practical, risk-based advice.
• Ability to operate independently and drive work through completion.
• Comfort making decisions where the law is unsettled or unclear.
• Excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Own legal support for the development, release, and deployment of Liquid’s models and products.
• Advise product, research, and engineering on AI regulation, privacy, data use, IP, model safety, and product claims.
• Lead Liquid’s response to the EU AI Act and other emerging AI laws with practical controls and documentation.
• Advise on training and evaluation data, synthetic data, open-source releases, fine-tuning, and customer deployments.
• Support the commercial team on product and regulatory issues in strategic customer and partnership agreements.
