Precise Software Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Associate Controller to support the CFO in accounting operations and financial reporting for a government contracting environment in Rockville, MD.

The role focuses on monthly close, government contract cost accounting, and audit readiness, with a hybrid work schedule primarily based in the Rockville office. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in government contracting, and strong knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, with 2–3 years in government contracting.
• Senior accountant, accounting manager, associate controller, or comparable role.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and FAR cost principles applicable to government contractors.
• Experience with direct and indirect cost accounting, cost pools, allocation bases, and rate structures.
• Experience with government contract billing, accounts receivable, and audit support.

Responsibilities

• Support the CFO with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and journal entries.
• Prepare GL reconciliations, analyze variances, and ensure audit-ready records.
• Review AP, AR, payroll, and cash activity for accuracy and completeness.
• Support cost accumulation, allocation, and reporting for government contracts.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting packages.
