Job summary

Discord is seeking an Associate Commercial Counsel to help integrate social features into games and monetize partnerships. You will draft and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on sponsorships, and build scalable processes for in-house teams in a fast-moving tech environment.

The role requires strong bar membership, 4+ years of transactional experience, and deep knowledge of advertising, privacy, and digital media.

Qualifications

• Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar and in-house eligibility in California.
• 4+ years of commercial transactional experience, tech industry preferred.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Experience with advertising, gaming, digital media, data privacy, and consumer internet.
• Understanding privacy principles in commercial agreements involving personal information.
• Strong business judgment and ability to work independently under tight timelines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain legal issues to non-lawyers.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and close a high volume of commercial agreements.
• Negotiate IP licensing with game, anime, and entertainment licensors.
• Review and advise on sponsorships and marketing efforts.
• Structure monetization models like virtual currency, bundles, rewards, revenue share.
• Support payments, app store terms, and distribution agreements.
• Develop scalable templates and self-serve processes.
