Job summary

Discord Inc. is seeking an Associate Commercial Counsel to help integrate Discord’s social features into games, enabling in‑game commerce and digital collectibles with major partners.

You will draft, negotiate, and close high-volume commercial agreements, review IP licensing, support sponsorships and marketing efforts, and build scalable templates and playbooks, reporting to the Managing Counsel, Commercial & Marketing Legal. Requirements include a JD and active U.S.

Qualifications

• JD and active U.S. bar membership.
• Eligible to register as in-house counsel in California.
• 4+ years of commercial transactional experience, tech company preferred.
• Experience drafting complex commercial agreements (tech licensing, platform integrations, revenue partnerships).
• Experience with advertising, gaming, digital media, data privacy and consumer internet.
• Understanding of privacy principles in commercial agreements.
• Ability to manage high-volume docket and meet timelines.
• Strong business judgment and risk-calibrated advice.
• Excellent communication for non-lawyer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and close a high volume of commercial agreements (advertising, API/SDK integrations, commerce and in-app purchases, ad tech).
• Negotiate IP licensing with game, anime, and entertainment licensors for digital collectibles and in-app content.
• Review and support sponsorship and marketing efforts.
• Structure monetization models (virtual currency, bundling, revenue share).
• Support payments and platform agreements (payment processors, gift cards, app store terms).
• Build and maintain templates, playbooks, and self-serve processes.
