Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Planner, the Associate Transportation Planner will support the Climate Change Program for District 12, assisting with the implementation of programs established by the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the State Legislature. Responsibilities include supporting climate change initiatives, policy development, research, outreach, and coordinating climate activities across functional units. The role may involve serving as a team lead and supporting district efforts to incorporate climate adaptation into transportation planning.
The position is located at 1750 E 4th St #100, Santa Ana, CA. It involves telework and in-office work, extensive computer use, and travel within and outside the district, including overnight trips. The incumbent may encounter field conditions such as weather extremes and hazardous environments. Telework policies are subject to departmental discretion and operational needs.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) demonstrating ability to meet the position’s criteria are required. The SOQ must be concise, single-spaced, in 12-point font, and no longer than 1 page. Resumes and cover letters are not substitutes for the SOQ.
