Associate Merchandise Planner

Location: New York, NY (Onsite)

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

While best known for our fine jewelry collections, available in over 150 land- and cruise-based boutiques worldwide, we also operate HF Duty Free Team, a separate division focused on multiple product categories within the Duty-Free and Travel Retail sector. HFDF Corp partners with leading brands to deliver a curated retail experience for travelers across the globe.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Merchandise Planner to join our HF Duty Free Team. In this role, you will support the planning and allocation of multiple product categories to help achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets across our Duty-Free and Travel Retail operations. This position works closely with buying, logistics, and store operations teams to ensure products are effectively positioned to meet customer demand and align with broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with merchandising and buying teams to align assortment strategies with financial objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate product performance, identifying opportunities and risks to maximize profitability.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, and seasonal financial reports and dashboards.
  • Provide actionable insights on sales, inventory, and margin performance to support decision-making.
  • Support the team in implementing promotional strategies and markdown optimization.
  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical data, market trends, and sales insights.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to align demand plans with business objectives and promotional activities.
  • Identify and address gaps between forecasted and actual demand, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels across multiple locations to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory records and sales data, providing actionable recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, retail management, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in planning, allocation, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, Microsoft Excel, and retail planning software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Analytical thinking and ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and sales forecasting techniques.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.
