Job summary

Great West Casualty Company is seeking an Associate Claims Specialist to join our Physical Damage & Cargo team. This entry-level role offers extensive training, hands-on experience, and the chance to develop expertise in trucking insurance.

You will investigate claims, review coverage, coordinate towing and repairs, and collaborate with adjusters, attorneys, and other partners to resolve issues and finalize settlements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Basic insurance claims knowledge or trucking exposure preferred but not required.
• Strong problem-solving, investigation, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and document accident details involving commercial vehicles and cargo losses.
• Review policy coverage and determine applicable physical damage and cargo benefits.
• Guide insureds through the claims process, including coordinating towing, recovery, cargo transfers, and repair services.
• Gather and review repair estimates, cargo evaluations, photographs, and other claim documentation.
• Establish appropriate claim reserves based on damages, exposures, and policy provisions.
• Work with independent adjusters to obtain inspections, photographs, and other necessary information.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other business partners to address coverage concerns and resolve claim issues.
• Negotiate settlements and issue timely claim payments.
• Identify subrogation and salvage opportunities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

What You'll Be Doing

Investigate and Resolve Claims

• Investigate and document accident details involving commercial vehicles and cargo losses.
• Review policy coverage and determine applicable physical damage and cargo benefits.
• Guide insureds through the claims process, including coordinating towing, recovery, cargo transfers, and repair services.
• Gather and review repair estimates, cargo evaluations, photographs, and other claim documentation.

On-Call Support

• Participate in an after-hours rotation to assist with emergency physical damage and cargo loss reports.
• Coordinate towing, recovery, and cargo transfer arrangements when necessary.
