Job summary

San Francisco Public Works is seeking two Associate Civil Engineers for the Structural Engineering Section to work on bridge inspection/repair and earthquake safety projects. Roles involve design, seismic evaluations, and construction administration for facilities including fire and police stations.

Responsibilities include leading analyses, producing drawings and specs, coordinating fieldwork, and supervising staff across projects with durations up to three years.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of verifiable professional civil engineering experience; two (2) years at level equivalent to 5203 Assistant Engineer or higher.
• Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Civil Engineering

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs, contract drawings and specifications.
• Prepare cost and quantity estimates and structural calculations for construction.
• Provide engineering support for construction and operations; review conditions and data.
• Conduct field work and investigations; respond to structural emergencies.
• Develop analytical structural models using ETABS and SAP2000.
• Supervise preparation of drawings, specs and calculations; allocate resources.
• Review drawings and calculations for accuracy and conformance to standards.
• Prepare technical reports, regulatory reports and SOPs.
• Direct, train and supervise staff involved in engineering work.
• Attend meetings and public hearings; present to staff and boards.
