Job summary

City and County of San Francisco’s San Francisco Public Works is seeking an Associate Engineer (Civil) for the Structural Engineering Section in San Francisco. The role focuses on design of new buildings, alterations, seismic evaluations, and repairs of bridges, stairways, and other structures, with project work across fire and police facilities.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of verifiable professional civil engineering experience; two years at level of 5203 Assistant Engineer or higher.
• Current California PE license in Civil Engineering required or eligibility.
• Experience with bridge, buildings, or seismic design and review is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares engineering designs, contract drawings and technical specifications.
• Prepares cost and quantity estimates and structural calculations.
• Provides engineering support for construction and operations; reviews existing conditions and data.
• Performs field work and investigations; analyzes problems for regulatory compliance.
• Develops analytical structural models using ETABS, SAP2000, and related software.
• Supervises the preparation of construction drawings and calculations; assigns staff tasks.
