Job summary

San Francisco Public Works is seeking two Associate Civil Engineers for the Structural Engineering Section. These roles will support bridge inspection and repair projects, seismic evaluations, and the design and repair of various structures across San Francisco.

Under general direction, engineers will perform professional civil/structural tasks, supervise staff, and may act as project engineer on multiple projects with durations up to three years. A CA PE license is required.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of verifiable professional civil engineering experience, of which two (2) years are equivalent to the City & County of San Francisco Class5203 Assistant Engineer or higher
• Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Civil Engineering

Responsibilities

• Develops analytical structural models using ETABS, SAP2000, and other related software
• Prepares engineering designs, contract drawings and technical specifications to ensure compliance with codes, standards and project requirements
• Reviews and verifies engineering drawings, calculations, and work products produced by staff to ensure accuracy and conformance to standards
• Directs and counsels engineering staff; conducts meetings and presentations to staff and public entities
• Supervises preparation of technical reports, field reports, and other documentation
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and project timelines
