Job summary

Buro Happold in New York is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to lead the design and development of resilient, sustainable civil infrastructure. You'll work with a multidisciplinary team across geotechnical, transportation, environmental and energy sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience.
• PE license required.
• Proficient in Civil3D, GIS, and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, utility design, grading, earthwork, sustainable design, and green infrastructure.
• Experience in supporting project delivery, including scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to present technical information clearly.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest in participating in professional organizations and sustainable infrastructure field.
• Demonstrated track record delivering complex civil projects.
• Adaptive leadership; willingness to push boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical input and innovative solutions for challenging engineering problems, particularly in sustainable and resilient design.
• Manage complex and multi-disciplinary projects from conception to completion, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Lead client interactions, helping to understand their needs and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of work across projects.
• Lead collaboration efforts with experts from various disciplines to develop holistic solutions.
• Contribute to the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in civil engineering.
• Support sustainable and green infrastructure practices, ensuring their integration into projects.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and continue personal professional development.
• Provide expert consultation to clients and partner organizations on infrastructure challenges and resilience planning.
• Contribute to long-term strategies for the Civil Infrastructure Team.
