Job description

The Department of Graduate Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for the position of Associate Chair of Advanced Practice Nursing and Clinical Assistant Professor (Academic Professional Track). The rank is negotiable based on experience.

This position is part of a dynamic leadership team within the Graduate Nursing Department, focused on providing high-quality nursing programs. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of progressive leadership experience and are expected to contribute to the academic and scholarly goals of the university and college. The role involves overseeing the seven nurse practitioner specialty tracks offered at the university and providing strategic leadership for these programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership to all nurse practitioner tracks.
  2. Serve as a member of the administrative team to facilitate high-quality graduate nursing education.
  3. Assist with the collection and analysis of program evaluation data.
  4. Complete campus faculty workload assignments each semester.
  5. Collaborate with the Dean and Department Chair on budgeting for the department.
  6. Oversee NP core courses, including review of course evaluations, curricular development, and ongoing improvements.
  7. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions.
  8. Monitor staffing and workload needs; recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified faculty.
  9. Coordinate onboarding and orientation of new faculty for NP programs.
  10. Oversee annual reviews for NP program directors.
  11. Facilitate curriculum revisions based on student evaluations, faculty input, healthcare system changes, and accreditation requirements.
  12. Teach graduate courses in the appropriate APRN specialty area.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field (e.g., EdD).
  • Unencumbered RN license in Texas or ability to obtain one.
  • APRN license in Texas or ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APRN.
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of academic leadership experience.
  • Experience with APRN education (online and in-seat).
  • Experience interpreting and applying BON Rules and Regulations.

The Department of Graduate Nursing, one of three within CONHI, offers an MSN in Nursing Education, an MSN in Nursing Administration, seven nurse practitioner tracks, a Doctor in Nursing Practice, and a PhD in Nursing. Programs are delivered online and in hybrid formats. The Associate Chair will report to the Department Chair.
