Job summary

Care Partners in Sacramento, CA invites an Associate Center Medical Director to lead clinical care for participants in a senior-focused program. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to develop care plans, diagnose, order tests, and coordinate hospital care, while ensuring high-quality outcomes.

This role combines hands-on medicine with administrative leadership, including supervising the primary care team, staffing, meetings, budget support, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Management or leadership experience
• Experience working with frail or elderly populations

Responsibilities

• 60% Clinical duties: Work with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update participant care plans; evaluate, diagnose, treat participants; order and interpret tests, prescribe treatment, and coordinate care with specialists and hospitals; document care in the medical record; admit and manage participants in contracted nursing facilities; fulfill required medical staff duties.
• 40% Administrative & Supervision: Lead and supervise the primary care team, including hiring, training, work assignments, performance reviews, and employee concerns; coordinate regular primary care meetings; support quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and medical programs; manage after-hours coverage; oversee supervision per policy

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school.
• Management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
• Experience working with frail or elderly populations.

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

• Unrestricted state medical license
• DEA registration with full prescriptive authority
• Board certification
• Not listed on the CMS Preclusion List

Associate Center Medical DirectorPosition Summary

• 40% Administrative & Supervision:Lead and supervise the primary care team, including hiring, training, work assignments, performance reviews, and employee concerns.Coordinate regular primary care meetings and support a collaborative team culture.Support the SCMD or CMD with quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and medical programs.Help manage hospital and emergency department use, specialist referrals, pharmacy use, and short stays in nursing facilities.Oversee the after-hours coverage schedule to ensure a physician is available at all times.Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with organizational policies and applicable employment laws

Occasional Travel Requirements

• Travel may be required to participant and potential participant homes and/or other off-site locations
• Overnight travel out of state may be required on occasion
