Qualifications

Description: Harris Beach Murtha seeks an associate-level attorney to join our collaborative business litigation team.

Responsibilities

1. Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings.
2. Take and defend depositions.
3. Research legal and factual issues and collaborate with senior attorneys on strategies.
4. Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands/responses, motions, briefs, etc.
5. Examine records and transactions related to business disputes and investigations.
6. Work across various commercial litigation practice areas.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to provide comprehensive legal support.
8. Maintain a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually.

Qualifications

1. 4-7+ years of litigation experience.
2. Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred.
3. Admission to the Connecticut bar required; NY and/or Massachusetts bar preferred.
4. Experience with Connecticut State and Federal Courts required.
5. Judicial clerkship experience preferred.
6. Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school; active bar membership.
7. Excellent research and writing skills.
8. Effective oral and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
10. Strong organizational skills and ability to quickly absorb new information.
11. High standards of performance, conscientiousness, and professionalism.
12. Positive, flexible attitude and ability to work with diverse personalities.
13. Military experience is welcomed.
