  • Foreclosure, title, mortgage or financial services experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local laws.
  • Ability to manage an independent caseload and provide sound recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Review judicial foreclosure documentation for compliance with state/federal rules.
  • Analyze loan documents to identify deficiencies requiring resolution.
  • Review title reports and identify issues within turnaround times.
  • Provide recommendations on title clearance to clients.
  • Cure simple and complex title issues promptly.
  • Review title examinations, pleadings, and foreclosure documents.
  • Draft and edit legal opinions, reports, and pleadings.
  • Manage a portfolio of files from initiation through resolution.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, attorneys, clerks, and judges.
  • Navigate Louisiana and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient file management.
  • Travel as needed for training or court appearances.

Associate Attorney – Judicial Foreclosure & Title

Our client is a well-established legal services organization seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its New Orleans team supporting a growing Judicial Foreclosure and Title Clearance practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in Louisiana real estate law, title review, and foreclosure who enjoys managing an independent caseload while working closely with attorneys, clients, and support teams.

The Opportunity

The Associate Attorney will report to the Managing Partner and take ownership of an assigned caseload involving judicial foreclosure and title clearance matters. This attorney will be responsible for reviewing legal and loan documentation, identifying title and file-level issues, providing recommendations, and ensuring matters move forward efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review documentation related to judicial foreclosures for compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Analyze loan documents to identify missing information, deficiencies, and other issues requiring resolution.
  • Review title reports within established turnaround times and identify title issues.
  • Provide comprehensive recommendations to clients regarding title clearance and resolution of identified issues.
  • Cure both simple and complex title issues in a timely manner.
  • Review title examinations, pleadings, loan documents, and foreclosure documents.
  • Evaluate file-level legal and compliance issues and provide legal opinions and recommendations.
  • Draft, review, and edit legal opinions, reports, correspondence, pleadings, and other documents.
  • Manage and independently monitor a portfolio of files from initiation through resolution.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, vendors, attorneys, clerks, judges, borrowers, and defense counsel.
  • Navigate Louisiana and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to promote efficient and consistent file management.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Exercise sound judgment when addressing complex legal, compliance, and title issues.
  • Maintain accuracy and productivity in a high-volume environment.
  • Participate in occasional training, industry events, and travel as needed.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the Louisiana State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law.
  • Experience in real estate law and title review/clearance is required.
  • Experience with foreclosure, title, mortgage, or financial services matters strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ability to research and analyze case law and provide sound legal recommendations.
  • Experience managing an independent caseload or portfolio of matters.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with case and document management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
