Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and CA bar in good standing.
• 2–5 years civil litigation experience, preferably plaintiff-side personal injury.
• Strong research, writing and oral advocacy skills.

Hillguard Injury Lawyers is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing personal injury litigation team. You will manage a caseload of plaintiff-side personal injury matters from intake through trial, working alongside experienced trial attorneys who have recovered tens of millions for California clients. This is a high-impact role for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, client-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of personal injury matters including auto accidents, slip-and-fall, premises liability, and catastrophic injury cases
• Draft and file complaints, motions, discovery requests, and settlement demands
• Conduct depositions, attend mediations, and represent clients at hearings
• Negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters and defense counsel
• Prepare cases for trial and assist lead counsel during jury trials
• Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and set expectations
• Collaborate with paralegals and case managers on case strategy and documentation

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing
• 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably plaintiff-side personal injury
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with attention to detail
• Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Trial experience (first or second chair)
• Familiarity with medical terminology and records review
• Experience with case management software (Filevine, Litify, or similar)
